About this product
At 45 pounds, the Brinn Predator is an aluminum 2-speed racing transmission with its clutch built into the case, aimed at circle-track competitors running IMCA Modified, Stock Car, and Late Model classes on dirt or asphalt. Because the clutch sits inside the housing, there is no outboard clutch assembly to package or service. Inside the case Both shafts are gun-drilled to shed rotating mass, and the internal pieces go through a cryogenic treatment for added strength. Gearing steps through a 2.68:1 low, a direct 1:1 high once up to speed, and a 1.78:1 reverse, rated to 600 lb-ft of torque. Shaft diameters of 1.0625 and 1.1875 inches, carrying 10 and 27 splines respectively, line up with many existing Muncie and Borg-Warner installs, which Brinn says this transmission can drop straight into. What to add for a complete driveline Bellhousing, the matching Predator shifter assembly listed as part #70630, mount, yoke, driveshaft, and Brinn's own RT1 fluid are all sold apart from the transmission; what ships here is the gearbox itself, its internal clutch pack, front bearing retainer, internal gear set, and installation documentation. Q: Does it need regular upkeep like an external clutch setup would? Brinn built the Predator to need minimal maintenance since there is no outboard clutch or throwout bearing to wear down. Brinn covers the Predator for one year against material and workmanship defects, assuming normal racing use and a correct install.
