The Maxstar 161 S is a stick-only inverter welder with a digital interface, built for shops that do not need TIG capability. It draws power from either a 120 or 240-volt cord, with an amperage range of 20-90A on 120V and 20-160A on 240V. Daily use A digital display and an encoder dial replace older analog controls, letting the process and amperage be chosen with a menu button and a short press-and-hold for the user menu. It handles mild steel and stainless up to roughly 3/16 in of material running 5/32 in electrodes. At 13 lbs, it is light enough to set on a tailgate or carry up a ladder.
