About this product
The L-shaft Verado 250 is the shortest-shaft version of Mercury's 250-horsepower V-8, built on a 20-inch shaft and finished in one of Mercury's white cowl options. On a boat with a lower transom, this shorter shaft keeps the engine riding at the right depth, unlike the longer-shaft options in this family. Matching shaft to transom A 20-inch shaft keeps the gearcase and anti-ventilation plate at the correct depth on a shorter transom; going longer than needed lifts the propeller too high and invites cavitation. This version does not list counter rotation, so plan on a single-engine installation rather than part of a paired, opposite-rotating twin setup. What stays the same At 600 pounds, the familiar V-8 four-stroke block here runs 4.6 liters of displacement. On this engine, throttle and shifting are electronically controlled, the helm benefits from hydraulic steering assist, the mounting design damps vibration, and the starter protects itself from overload. The RPM range at full throttle spans 5200 to 6000. The cowl comes in warm fusion, pearl fusion white, or cold fusion, and expect the owner's manual, mounting hardware, as well as a tool kit in the box. A propeller is not part of this package. Can I pair two of these for a twin install? Not for opposite-rotation twins, since counter rotation is not offered on this particular shaft length and finish. What is the warranty? Mercury Marine's 3-year warranty applies.
