About this product
Mercury's 175HP XL FourStroke Outboard DTS runs the same 475-pound V-6 as its CXL sibling, on a 25-inch extra-long shaft with Digital Throttle and Shift steering, reaching up to 6000 RPM at full throttle. Digital steering, standard rotation only DTS steering connects electronically to the helm rather than through mechanical cables, so make sure your boat's rigging is already set up for it before ordering. Counter rotation is not offered on this particular configuration, so plan around standard rotation when pairing it with a second engine rather than assuming either direction is available. Specifications This 3.4-liter V-6 is electric-start and fuel-injected, built on the same extra-long 25-inch shaft Mercury uses on its other XL 175 HP offering. A propeller is not included, so budget for one separately when fitting it to your boat. Twin-engine planning Since this configuration only turns one direction, pairing two of these outboards side by side means dealing with the torque steer that comes from matching rotation, rather than the balanced handling a counter-rotating pair gives; talk to a rigger about prop selection if you are planning a twin installation with this model. Why some buyers prefer standard rotation A single, standard-rotation outboard like this one is also the simpler, more common choice for a single-engine boat, since parts, propellers, and service knowledge are generally easier to find for standard rotation than for a counter-rotating unit meant mainly for twin-engine pairs. Coverage This new outboard carries Mercury Marine's standard three-year warranty, and Mercury includes the owner's manual, mounting hardware, and a tool kit with it.
