About this product
Mercury's 115HP EXLPT FourStroke is the extra-long-shaft, 25-inch counterpart in this 115 hp EFI four-stroke range, carrying remote mechanical steering and electric start but no Command Thrust upgrade, built for a tall-transom boat that does not need the extra low-speed bite. Who needs the extra-long shaft Boats built with a taller transom than average, such as larger center consoles or houseboats raised on taller brackets, need this 25-inch leg to keep the propeller at the right depth; mounting a shorter shaft on that same hull would leave the gearcase riding too high and cavitating under load. Running the standard gearcase instead of Command Thrust keeps the rev range and handling closer to a lighter recreational feel, rather than biasing everything toward low-speed pulling power. Specifications and equipment Four cylinders in a single-overhead-cam, 8-valve layout make up this 2.1-liter EFI engine; full throttle lands between 5000 and 6000 rpm, and the engine weighs 359 pounds. A tool kit, mounting hardware, and the printed manual travel with the engine, under Mercury Marine's 3-year factory warranty. No propeller ships with it; pick one sized to your gear ratio and hull weight separately. What shaft length is this engine? 25 inches, for a tall transom. Does it include Command Thrust? No, this is the standard-gearcase version. Is it a good match for a center console? Yes, provided the transom height is a genuine match for the extra-long leg.
