About this product
This is BluePrint's 383 cubic-inch small-block Chevy longblock, rated at 436 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, built on 10.0:1 compression. It ships as a true long block: the aluminum cylinder heads, hydraulic roller camshaft, and cast steel crankshaft are already in place, and so is the intake manifold and distributor, so what's left for the builder is mostly fuel delivery and a final ignition hookup. What arrives assembled The block is new BluePrint cast iron, built and machined in the USA, four bolts per main cap, sealed at the rear of the crank with a one-piece design. A passenger-side dipstick location and clutch-linkage drilling are already done at the factory, and there's provision for a mechanical fuel pump. Inside, hypereutectic pistons ride on the cast steel crank, and the aluminum heads carry the hydraulic roller cam over 64cc combustion chambers. The oil pan, valve covers, and timing cover are installed, and BluePrint ships a dyno sheet documenting the power curve with every engine. Before you order Since this longblock already carries an intake manifold and a distributor, check your own build sheet so you aren't duplicating parts you already own, or planning a combination those parts won't support. It is sold new, not reconditioned. The recommended break-in oil is a non-synthetic 10W30, and this block is not set up for EGR. BluePrint's paperwork for this engine covers 30 months or 50,000 miles of coverage. Is this street legal in California? No. This particular engine is sold for off-highway, competition-only use under California's emissions rules, not for registered street vehicles or model years after the cutoffs the state sets for exempt use. What displacement is this? 383 cubic inches, built from the small-block Chevy architecture BluePrint uses across this engine family, with a 4.000-inch bore and a 3.750-inch stroke.
